Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre encountered a heartbreaking situation when an inspector was called out to Bronkhorstspruit in the last week of July.
The woman who reported the situation told Wet Nose that a house had caught fire, the property owner was in hospital for four days and then went away, but there were still two dogs on the property.
“As we arrived at the scene of the charred house, our hearts sank,” a Wet Nose spokesperson said. Amidst the devastation, they were greeted by a gentle Africanis that they later named Fire. It was only when they entered the remains of the property that they discovered a frail white pit-bull that they later named Ice.

“Our hearts broke as we observed her emaciated frame and noticed a grievous wound on the inside of her hind leg. Further examination revealed that Ice had bravely escaped the burning inferno by leaping through a shattered window, sustaining this injury in the process.”
“Our gratitude knows no bounds as we were able to rescue these brave companions and place them in a safe and secure environment. Now, our sole focus is to ensure their swift recovery, allowing them to embark on a brighter future filled with love and happiness.” |
