The Vaalbank-based Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre had a Sleep-a-thon challenge on 1 April. People could experience the life of a kennel dog for a full 24 hours. Although it took place on April Fool’s day, the challenge involved no fools or pranks of any kind. People turned up at 9 am on the Saturday morning and could pamper their selected dog, run the agility course, give the dog a bath and groom and relax with a picnic. The challenge ended on the Sunday morning at 10 am.

“We would like to express our deepest appreciation for everyone’s participation in our Sleep-a-thon event,” the organizers said. “We were humbled to see so many people come out during the day and to those who were brave enough to stay the night, would you do it again?”

“We would also like to thank the Capital Hotel students for dinner and a warm breakfast in the cold morning. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is truly appreciated.”
