Waste water from Refilwe, just north of Cullinan, will soon be discharged into the Elands River. If you want to object, you have until 30 November to register as interested and affected party in the proposed new Refilwe Waste Water Treatment Works (WWTW) Discharge Pipeline.

The Refilwe WWTW is south east of the township. The proposed new pipeline will discharge into the Elands River approximately 2,5 km east of Refilwe. The project will investigate three different route options for the pipeline.

Other activities, which trigger the need for a basic assessment process, include the clearing of indigenous vegetation and the development of facilities for the treatment of effluent, waste water or sewage with a daily throughput capacity of more than 2 000 cubic metres.

The City of Tshwane’s services infrastructure department: water and sanitation is applying for environmental authorisation for the project to the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDARD).
