The Mooiplaats, Zwavelpoort and Tiegerpoort Conserv communities are holding a fun day for the whole family on Saturday 28 August at plot 68, Mooiplaats. Follow the pointers from Boschkop Road on the day.

There will be market and food stalls, a tea garden as well as a programme of fun events throughout the day. The events programme kicks off at 10:30 am and includes a sheep dog display, martial arts demonstration, auctions, paint ball challenge, helicopter flips, a sheep spit braai, Karaoke and loads of prizes.

The children’s fun arena will be packed with exciting games such as archery, balloon popping, egg throwing and fishing for prizes. This day has been organised to raise funds for the fire fighting, first aid and crime prevention teams.

“Instead of begging everyone to donate money we are going to have a community fun day to raise funds as it is the community who helps the community after all, and it is a known fact that the majority of the call-outs of our teams are to non-members,” organiser Vanessa Galanakis said. “We feel that this would be an appropriate way for the whole community to show their appreciation for the super work that is being done by a well-organised community.”

The Conserv YOR Plan Support Group was introduced to our area in 2006. Membership has grown steadily and there are now 222 member households in the Mooiplaats, Zwavelpoort and Tiegerpoort (MZT) sector with 232 radios.

The Conserv family in our greater area is made up of four major groups: Kleinfontein, Boschkop, Pienaarspoort and the MZT sector.

The YOR Plan structure calls for community response in the event of incidents in the area. For this, individuals from the community volunteer to belong to and actively participate in teams. All team members are bound to receive training to ensure that they are up to standard.
