Thousands of mountain bikers took part in the first leg of the Nissan Mountainbike series, held over the Bronberg area’s gravel roads and dirt tracks, on Saturday 20 June.

Cyclists of all ages enjoyed a competitive race as the event included trails of varying lengths. There were 60 km, 30 km and 8 km mountain bike races as well as a fun run/walk. The Bronberg route is regarded as one of Gauteng’s best kept secrets for mountain bike endurance riding. According to competitors, the mix of fast gravel roads, technical single track, rocky descents, four water crossings, and spectacular ridgeline views is unmatched by any other mountainbike event in the province.

The start and finishing points were at Tyger Valley College in Lynnwood Road extension. For more information about the Nissan MTB series, phone 083-686-6293 or send an e-mail to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
