The theme at this month’s Tierpoort Seniors event was ‘Creative Canvas’, facilitated by one of the volunteers, Mariet van Niekerk, who is a professional artist. Guests were welcomed at Bush Willow, Nkwe Road, Tierpoort on 6 April by owners Barry and Joan Annandale.

Coffee and biscuits were served, followed by the regular ‘getting to know you’. Dick and Raye Cullingworth were interviewed by Marietjie Allers about how they came to live in Tierpoort plus a little about their lives. These two long-term participants of the Tierpoort Seniors Fun Events are sadly moving to George.

Each guest was given a canvas and they were taken through the steps to build up a picture of a house with countryside surrounding it. The organisers discovered that there is great talent among the seniors residents and, as they were invited to dress up as artists, the picture was complete.

The activity was followed by a meal of fresh bread and butter with chicken livers, boerewors in tomato sauce, tzatziki, various cheeses, chakalaka and mulberry jam. Coffee and koeksisters were served for dessert.
