Want to know how to find the lucrative A-Ha moments in daily life? Silver Lakes resident, Debra Langley, wrote a book, ‘Ideas Like Shoes Take You Places’, which emphasizes the idea that anyone can be creative.

Debra is married to Gavin Langley, headmaster: preparatory at Tyger Valley College, and they have two daughters, Melissa and Kelsey. Debra is actually a certified pharmacist and started her career in the retail pharmacy industry. As she found that counting pills wasn’t for her, she moved on to running a bookshop and dabbled in the field of natural health.

Debra was a founder of Kooblla, the online book club management software, and created a website that offers creative writing prompts. This former president of the Strelitzia Toastmasters club in Pretoria also started the Think-Speak Innovative Reading Programme and founded, a collection of random prompts to spark your thinking and accelerate the process of creative thoughts.

Debra’s research of creativity has impacted her private and professional life. In one fundraising project she was tasked with raising R475 000 in 24 hours. She and her team raised the funds needed and in the process broke the Guinness World Record for the most people to swim a 24-hour relay event.

In her book, ‘Ideas Like Shoes Take You Places’, Debra shares practical examples that show you just how easy it is to come up with big ideas.
