Lance Baillie, manager of
Rafters Pub and Grill, tragically
died on 2 October after a few
days in a coma following a car
accident.
Lance Stuart Baillie was born in
Empangeni in Natal on 20 August
1984. On finishing high school, he
went to study at Prue Leith College
as a master chef and business
manager. After floating around a
few pubs, he started at Rafters Pub
and Grill in May 2008, where he
was, as he said, ready to settle
down.
According to his colleague,
Laurette Swanepoel, Lance was “a
well-known member of our society,
a very loveable person with a
passion for motorbikes, his job, his
girlfriend, Surine Thirion, and
always game for a good night out
on the town”. Lance will be missed as son,
brother, boyfriend and a friend
who touched everyone’s hearts.
May he rest in peace.”
