Tracey Forté, president-founder of
Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre
won her appeal in the Pretoria
High Court early in May.
In March last year Tracy was sentenced
to 18 months in prison or a
R10 000 fine, suspended for five
years, for “stealing” a German shepherd
worth R3 000 from Jenny Brits in
2000, and giving it to Graham Jahme.
The appeal was heard by two judges,
Eberhard Bertelsmann and Cynthia
Pretorius, who found that the state
couldn’t prove theft.
Tracy claimed to have spent more
than R25 000 in legal fees and said
that this case did irreparable damage
to her reputation as well as that of Wet Nose. She is adamant that she will
be bringing a case against the state and the complainants for the damage
